The Dallas Cowboys’ newest acquisition to the receiver room Brandin Cooks is saying all the right things since moving from Houston to Frisco.
Dallas knew CeeDee Lamb needed help, and the front office went out and filled that need with Cooks. While some fixate on the fact that Cooks has been traded by every team he has been on, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio states that the receiver has to be happy with his current situation.
“Cooks is coming in with the right attitude, and he’s just got to be thrilled to go from one of the worst teams in the NFL over the last couple of years to a team that’s in a position to contend, he’s got to be happy,” Florio said via nbcsports.com.
The attitude that Florio mentions is in reference to Cooks’ comments on the Adam Schefter podcast, where he detailed that he is simply coming to Dallas to help and has no ego after his career exploits.
That type of team-first attitude will help Cooks integrate with his new teammates.
Much has been made of Cooks’ career and the fact that he has been traded as often as he has. But Cooks himself has made the accurate point that every time, that’s because a team has wanted him.
Said Florio: “He’s been thrown a lifeline, you don’t even have to leave the state, and he’s still paying zero percent income tax.”
With the receiver’s no-ego way of thinking, he knows this is Lamb’s show and seems content to slot in and do a job for coach Mike McCarthy and his offense.
Football has some “diva” receivers, but that’s not the case in Dallas – a fact that will only help the Cowboys as they look to put an end to their infamous NFC Championship drought.
