Dak Prescott ‘Can’t Pull’ Cowboys, Must Draft TE Darnell Washington – Colin Cowherd

The Cowboys have added Brandin Cooks to the offense during free agency, but Colin Cowherd still thinks more needs to be added to get the best out of Dak Prescott.

The Dallas Cowboys knew entering the offseason that quarterback Dak Prescott needed more help on offense. With CeeDee Lamb sometimes playing the lone hand, an addition had to be made.

That addition was speedy receiver Brandin Cooks, who was acquired via a trade with the Houston Texans. But is that enough with Michael Gallup not showing the form needed and a young pair of tight ends in Jake Ferguson and Peyton Hendershot?

Fox Sports’ Colin Cowherd feels more needs to be added in the upcoming draft … starting with a tight end.

“They have to go get a tight end in the first two rounds,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “I think they get the Georgia tight end (Darnell Washington). He’s very, very good. They have to go find components to elevate Dak. Dak isn’t going to pull this team anywhere, you got to get Dak more weapons.”

Much has been made of who the Cowboys could target with the No.26 pick. The likes of Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson and Notre Dame tight end Michael Mayer have been the main ones mocked to Dallas.

Even Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs is another name that has gathered steam over the last couple of days, as it feels like offense will be the direction Dallas goes.

With CeeDee Lamb showing his value to the offense last season as he totaled career highs in receptions (107), receiving yards (1,359), touchdowns (9), and yards per game (79.9), Cowherd says that Lamb is close to being in the upper echelon of receivers in the league.

”He’s their best receiver, he’s a 1 absolutely,” Cowherd said. “I don’t think he’s Stefon Diggs, Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase. He’s not top three or four, but he’s somewhere between five and 15. He’s a very good one.”

With Lamb taking over the offense and with the addition of Cooks and potentially adding another weapon in Georgia tight end Darnell Washington, whose sheer size and athleticism will cause havoc for secondaries next season, Prescott will have a wealth of options next season.

Dallas had the fourth-best offense in terms of points scored per game last season (27.5), and with the additions thus far and potentially via the draft, Prescott could be holding the keys to one of the most explosive offenses in the NFL.

He has had that for the last two seasons, but this time, it has to translate into playoff success.
